The Button - Exhibition

My contributions to our team.

I came up with the idea for The Button at University in an Intermedia workshop.

I quickly asked two people to join me, Nico and Riley, two guys that were happy to contribute to my idea. As the semester moved forward The Button quickly became our idea. I was happy to have a like minded team.

My job was to make sure we were on time, look after the gear, learn software skills for the final edit and to make sure all of the team knew what their jobs were.

I was a happy contributor for the group. I led the team through prep-production when we met in the weekly workshops. As the lead, I made sure to communicate consistently with my group as I updated them with online files and a virtual workspace for them to contribute to. I also kept track with a schedule as we came closer to the exhibition day.

With the creation of the videos for The Button, I contributed my VFX skills in the production of the CALM video. In my spare time I created two videos in Houdini which contained calming 3D animated shapes. I later chose not to have these videos in the final cut because of the style we wanted. I looked after all of the gear that we needed for the exhibition and also learnt how to use a new software tool, Resolume Avenue.

With Resolume Avenue I had to work out how to assign the button in the program to the videos my team edited together.

On exhibition day I helped set up the space with my group, I also set up the laptop that was borrowed from Uni. I made sure to have the button working properly as well as sound and the position of the wire, so no one would step or trip over them. I also spent time creating a synopsis for the exhibition that was placed clearly for everyone to see when they entered the exhibition. I made sure to include a warning as well, always keeping health and safety in mind at all times.
