The decline in the movie going experience, and the rise of the stream sites.

I have always enjoyed watching one of those popcorn eating blockbuster films at the local movie theater, but in the last 10 years the movie theater going experience has started to dwindle. With access to hundreds, or even thousands of movies that are easily accessible at our finger tips. Many of us have chosen to stay home and stream movies either through legal or non-legal streaming sites.

With the ever growing access to the internet, new conglomerates of media such as Netflix have now become house hold names in this new generation of staying home to watch television series and movies at their own leisure.

But has it really changed much?

Has it been such a dramatic shift from movie theaters to home theaters?

Or has us, as movie goers acquired more time as access to media and entertainment can now be as easy as turning on the television.

I was born in the early nineties, and the way we viewed TV was to watch what ever was on in the time code of the average day. There was no way to pause or rewind the live experience of what TV was back then, Unless you recorded it with a VHS (Video Home System). The huge amount of options can and does overwhelm me sometimes. As a child it was easy to just sit there and watch whatever was on TV. You didn't have an option, apart from playing outside.

The rise of streaming services and the new capabilities of viewing films and TV shows has developed the tendency to stay home and watch at our own pace. I enjoy and always recommend doing this either with friends and family or even by myself, as it is convenient.

I still enjoy going to the movie theater. Its about the experience and the spectacle, sounds and connectivity as you experience the film with other movie goers, as we all laugh and scream together.

Do you still regularly go to the theaters?

If not, have you now moved to a streaming platform?

Do you use streaming sites?

If so, how has this form of media changed your habits?
